Maria Goncalves Vicente peacefully passed on March 9, 2021, at the age of 69 after an 18 year battle with ALS. Born in Brava, Cape Verde on August 6, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Carlotta Goncalves. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Jose R. Vicente of 35 years who cared for her until she was called to be with God. She leaves behind with love her cherished children Quira, Joseph, Delzen, her adored grandchildren Kayla, Jaleen, Davion, Zayden, Denzel, and Zyler. She is also survived by 4 brothers 5 sisters and many nieces and nephews.
Maria possessed a sincere compassionate heart full of love coupled with a beautiful enriched soul, which left lasting impressions on everyone she met. Maria loved to sing, dance, cook, and be in the presence of her beloved family. As a devout member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Maria’s unwavering Catholic faith and incredible courage gave her the strength to fight for her family which she loved very much.
As Maria’s final act of kindness and selflessness she has asked in lieu of flowers please donate to St. Jude Children’s Hospital https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html
Maria’s service will be held at Keefe Funeral Home on Saturday, March 13, 2021, at 8:30 am followed by a Catholic Mass at Immaculate Heart Mary at 10:30 am.
